4 Myths About Prom You Need to Stop Believing
It?s almost prom night! And with this amazing night comes a lot of planning. After all, you only get one prom (usually, anyway), so it?s worth your time to make sure it?s a great experience.
Not surprisingly, many misunderstandings and myths surround prom night. We?ve collected some of the important facts for you, in order to make planning your big night easier. Let?s review!
Myth: You Need to Spend $200 on Your Dress
While the average amount spent on a dress is $195, you don?t need to spend this much. Most stores offer numerous stylish dresses for under $100, and in 2016 it?s incredibly easy to go online and find a unique dress for much less than what the stores are offering. Additionally, you can try hitting up your local Goodwill. There are a ton of dresses there that have only been worn once or twice — and no one is going to know the difference!
Myth: Limousine Rentals are Super Expensive
Not true! The average cost of limousine service for four hours is about $450. While this might sound like a lot, the cost is normally split between multiple couples. Split between four couples, for example, the cost per person is about $55 (just don?t forget to tip the driver!). Limo services are also good for stress free transportation — you can go wherever you like, no matter what condition you?re in. Though mom would prefer that you not drink during prom, it?s better to be safe than sorry, considering that over 300 students die on in an alcohol-related accident on prom night each year. Limo rental services will be the stress free transportation that keep your friends and you safe.
Myth: You?ll be the Only Person Not Going to a Hotel
Don?t feel pressured into doing anything you?re not ready for on this amazing night! A lot of teens feel like they have to ? get it on? on prom night just because everyone else is. Surprisingly, though, the statistics don?t really back this up. A survey of nearly 13,000 students revealed that only about 4% lost their virginity on prom night — and only 14% of students were doing more than just kissing.
Myth: You Need Professional Photos
Professional photos can often cost hundreds of dollars. While it can be nice to have a real photographer come over and make you look like a movie star, in most cases, you?ll want to save the professional investment for your wedding day. Today, there are so many photo editing tools available anyway that all you need is a decent camera, someone to take the pictures, and enough time to get the contrast right in post-photo shoot editing.
